Myopia is a refractive error that makes objects far away appear blurry, while nearby objects remain clear. It happens when the eye is too long. A combination of genetics and environment factors are generally thought to be causes of myopia. High myopia leads to higher chances of sight threatening eye diseases like glaucoma, macular degeneration and retinal detachment.
Treatments aimed at reducing myopia progression in children are shown to be effective.
Symptoms:
Blurred vision for objects far away,
squinting
Eyestrain,
headaches
